A number of tracks have been cut through the bush on Rotota site which provides opportunity for walking naked through unspoilt bush. The tracks are maintained by the members and are generally easily negotiated, although some do have lots of tree roots and short lengths of steep gradient. Barefoot or good shoes are the best options!
Margie's Pool
This is a very level grass path that runs from where Sun Court and Gate End meet through gum trees and blackberry to Margie’s Pool, where the hot stream can be enjoyed in the summer or when there has been a long dry period.
Waterfall Track
This runs from where Lagoon meets Sun Court beneath a pergola and meanders through bush and low scrub to the stream and waterfall. There is a high chance of meeting public and – especially in the summer – people who have done “The Squeeze.” Take appropriate attire and a towel.
Errol's Loop Track
This runs from the end of lagoon around the hill to the North of Rotota. Half of the hill is Rotota ground, the remainder, we believe, belongs to the Department of Conservation. This loop has good views of the lake through the trees and has some dense undergrowth. It joins with the waterfall track.
Billy's Track (To Fumaroles)
This climbs from the road between Central Park and Top End through native bush, coming out at the fumaroles. These are not on Rotota land, so sarongs are needed in case we meet non-members. The fumaroles are dangerous and slippery when wet so care is needed. An option is to walk down the roadway which comes out at the gate, but again this is not Rotota property.
Tigga's Track
This runs from the hot tub at the lakefront up along the lakeside and climbs up to the back corner of Top End.
Hone's Track
This climbs steeply from behind the hot tub at the lakefront to the opposite end of Top End to Tigga’s Track.
The Lookout Track / Trig Track
This runs from behind the hill north of Rotota and ascends past a deep tomo. Although it’s fenced, take care as it’s very deep. At the top there are extensive views of the Rotota grounds and the lake. There is a possibility of meeting the general public here, so take appropriate attire with you.
Central Park Track
This track, one of our newest, runs from the start of Central Park through bush emerging at the end of the driveway down to the waterfront. A gentle, easy walk and lovely on a hot day.
